Job Description

The Junior Stores Operator will support the Stores Deputy Manager in the day-to-day operations of the store/warehouse. The role involves handling inventory, ensuring proper storage and issuance of materials, maintaining accurate records, and supervising a small team to ensure smooth and efficient store operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Duties

  • Assist the Stores Manager in daily store and warehouse operations.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against delivery notes and purchase orders.
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of materials to prevent damage or loss.
  • Issue materials based on authorized requests and maintain accurate issue records.
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages, excess stock, or slow-moving items.
  • Participate in regular stock counts, cycle counts, and annual physical inventory.

Supervision & Coordination

  • Supervise and guide stores assistants and helpers on daily activities.
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines.
  • Allocate daily tasks and monitor team performance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper organization within the store area.

Documentation & Systems

  • Maintain accurate records in stock registers, ERP systems, or inventory software.
  • Prepare basic store reports, including stock movement, usage, and discrepancies.
  • Ensure all documentation is properly filed and easily retrievable.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and procedures.
  • Promote safe handling and storage of materials at all times.
  • Promptly report incidents, damages, or non-conformities to the Stores Manager.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in stores, warehouse, or inventory operations.

Education

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Store Management, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant professional certification in inventory or warehouse management is an advantage.
  • Prior experience supervising or leading a small team is an added advantage.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of inventory management and warehouse operations.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Excel, ERP, or inventory management systems.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₦250,00.00 – ₦300,00.00 per month
