Job Description
Job Summary
The Head Chef is responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, menu planning, kitchen staff supervision, and strict adherence to hygiene and safety standards. The role requires creativity, leadership, and strong culinary expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and update menus in line with customer preferences and budget
- Supervise and coordinate all kitchen staff and kitchen operations
- Ensure food quality, taste, presentation, and consistency
- Monitor food costs, portion control, and reduce waste
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
- Manage inventory, food supplies, and kitchen equipment
- Train, mentor, and discipline kitchen staff when necessary
- Ensure timely preparation and delivery of meals
- Handle customer complaints related to food professionally
- Collaborate with management on kitchen budgeting and procurement
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef
- Strong knowledge of local and continental dishes
- Certification in culinary arts or food safety is an advantage
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Good communication skills
