Job Description
Job Purpose:
To carry out the installation, routing, and termination of PVC conduits and telecom cables (fiber, copper, coaxial, etc.) at telecom sites and customer locations, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install PVC conduit pipes, cable trays, and trunking for telecom infrastructure projects.
- Lay, route, and terminate telecom cables (fiber optic, copper, coaxial, etc.) as per project requirements.
- Carry out drilling, channeling, and other necessary civil works for cable pathways.
- Perform cable labeling, tagging, and documentation for easy identification and future maintenance.
- Conduct basic cable testing (continuity, insulation, etc.) and report any faults or defects.
- Ensure all installation works are performed in accordance with health, safety, and quality standards.
- Interpret and work with technical drawings, site layouts, and cable schedules.
- Assist in the installation of telecom equipment (where required).
- Maintain tools, equipment, and installation materials in good condition.
- Provide daily site progress updates and escalate any site challenges to the supervisor.
- Ensure minimal disruption to customer premises during installation works.
Requirements:
Education / Qualification:
- Minimum of SSCE / OND / Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Telecoms, or related field.
- Applicants must reside in one of the following locations: IBADAN NORTH, IDO, AKINYELE, EGBEDA, AFIJIO, SAKI
Experience:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in cable laying, conduit installation, or telecom fieldwork.
- Experience working in telecom site environments is an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of telecom cabling standards and practices.
- Ability to work with power tools (drill, cutter, etc.) and installation hand tools.
- Understanding of cable routing techniques and PVC conduit bending.
- Basic knowledge of fiber and copper cable types.
- Good physical fitness and ability to work at heights (where necessary).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and quality workmanship.
