Job Description

• The inventory officer is responsible for preparing purchase orders, receiving, storing, and issuing goods, as well as managing stock levels and supplying the required items from the stock.
• He/she is also involved in preparing inventories, maintaining stock records, using computerized systems for record-keeping, and checking supply invoices with purchase orders.
• The inventory officer prepares reports on inventory adjustments, coordinating purchasing, inventory, and warehousing functions.
• He/she identifies sources of supply and obtains quotes from suppliers.
• Additionally, the inventory officer ensures the disposal of surplus or obsolete stock.
• Maintaining accurate records of receipts and items going out of the warehouse is essential.
• Overseeing the reconciliation of physical stock with system records is also part of the role.
• Ensuring orderly arrangement and protection of goods in the warehouse for easy storage and retrieval is another responsibility.
• Undertaking regular stock taking and collaborating with designated staff members to confirm periodic stock is vital.
• Supervising the offloading process, arranging merchandise, and ensuring easy access and identification are also part of the job.
• The inventory officer plays a role in the correct and timely valuation of inventory.
