Job Description
An optician is responsible for helping customers choose and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses based on their prescription and personal preferences. This involves taking accurate measurements of the patient’s eyes, interpreting prescriptions written by optometrists or ophthalmologists, and assisting customers in selecting the most suitable eyewear for their needs.
As an optician, you will also be responsible for guiding customers in maintaining and repairing eyeglasses or contact lenses, adjusting frames, and ensuring proper alignment and comfort. Excellent communication skills are essential as you will need to provide clear instructions on how to care for eyewear, handle potential vision problems, and answer any questions or concerns.
Additionally, opticians are expected to keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in eyewear technology and fashion trends to assist customers in making informed decisions. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a friendly demeanor are crucial in this role.
