Job Description

Workstyle: Full time On-site

About the Role:

The Junior Stores Operator will support the Stores Deputy Manager in maintaining accurate records and supervising a small team to ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day operations of the store/warehouse. The role involves inventory handling, proper storage and issuance of materials, and general store operations management.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Duties

  • Assist the Stores Manager in daily store and warehouse operations.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against delivery notes and purchase orders.
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of materials to prevent damage or loss.
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages, excesses, or slow-moving items.
  • Issue materials based on authorized requests and maintain accurate issue records.
  • Participate in regular stock counts, cycle counts, and annual physical inventory exercises.

Supervision and Coordination

  • Ensure team members follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines.
  • Supervise and guide store assistants and helpers in daily tasks.
  • Allocate daily tasks and monitor team performance.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and organization within the store area.

Documentation and Systems

  • Prepare basic store reports, including stock movement, consumption, and discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate records in stock registers, ERP systems, or inventory software.
  • Ensure all documentation is properly filed and easily retrievable.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

  • Promote safe handling and storage of materials at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and procedures.
  • Promptly report incidents, damages, or non-conformities to the Stores Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in stores, warehouses, or inventory operations.
  • Preferred Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in store management, Accounting or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory management and warehouse operations.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory management and warehouse operations.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Excel, ERP, or inventory systems).
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and handle multiple tasks.
  • Relevant professional certification in inventory or warehouse management is an advantage.
