Job Summary:
The Heavy Motor Vehicles Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty vehicles, including trucks, buses, and other large vehicles. The ideal candidate should have a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections on heavy motor vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in heavy-duty vehicles.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance services on a regular basis.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot problems.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and timely repairs.
- Keep accurate records of repairs, parts used, and labor time.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Stay current with industry trends, technology, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or technical school program in heavy-duty vehicle maintenance is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Heavy Motor Vehicles Mechanic.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, and other heavy vehicle components.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment effectively.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physical fitness and stamina for working in a demanding, hands-on environment.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification in Heavy Duty Truck Repair.
- Previous experience with specific brands or types of heavy vehicles in your fleet.
- Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations.
